Pro methods to removing stickers off bathing suits easily

There are different methods that you can use to remove sticky residue from your swimsuit. I will group these methods into three which are:

  • Using Adhesive removal solvent
  • Using Heat
  • Freezing

Let’s look at how to go about each of them in detail.

1. Using Adhesive Removal Solvents:

There are many products that you use to remove sticky residue from swimsuits and other clothes and fabrics. You can use any of them depending on which is readily available at the point when you need to remove the sticky residue.

Some of these solvents are alcohol-based while others are made of oil. Any of these adhesive removal solvents can be used on any type of swimsuit no matter the fabrics that it is made from. Below are the descriptions on how to use some of the most common solvents:

Perfume

Aside from being used as a spray, perfumes are also an excellent solvent that can be used to dissolve and remove sticky residues.

You don’t have to spray the perfume directly on the spot; instead, you should spray the perfume on a cotton ball or clean linen and then apply it to the spot. After applying the perfume to the spot, you can then proceed to wash the swimsuit using a detergent.

Tea Tree Oil

You can also use this to remove sticky residue from your residue. The tea tree oil works perfectly well for removing any form of sticky residue from clothes including swimsuits. Just like perfume, place some quantity on a clean cloth and apply on the spot. After some minutes, hand wash with detergent and water.

Mineral Oil

Mineral Oil can also be used to remove sticky substances from your swimsuit but ensure that you use one that doesn’t contain acetone.

When you apply the mineral oil to the sticky surface on the swimsuit, the mineral oil would neutralize the residue such that the sticky substance falls off within a couple of minutes after you have hand-washed them with detergent and water.

Please note that there are different mineral oils in the market and I can’t say if every one of them will work. I use Food Grade Mineral Oil and it has been perfect in removing all the sticky residues from my swimsuits.

Aside from the many useful medical and domestic uses of lemon oil, It can also be used to remove sticky residues from surfaces. There are two ways you can go about this.

  1. You can soak the swimsuit with the lemon oil in a bowl for some hours.
  2. You can apply the lemon oil on the sticky part, leaving it to dry before pulling off the sticky residue.

No matter the one you choose, you will be shocked at the ease at which the sticky note pulls off. For quicker and better results, you have to use the right oil that can pull off the sticky residue faster.

Some lemon oil that you will see in the market may not meet your expectation in terms of efficiency. I recommend Handcraft Lemon Essential Oil. It is a 100% pure and Natural Lemon oil that you can use and get your sticky strain off your swimsuits and other clothes faster, easier and better.

Eucalyptus Oil

This is also another great product you can use to remove sticky residues. Apply the oil on a cotton ball or a clean cloth, use the cotton ball to clean the sticky surface, leave for some minutes, then proceed to wash with your regular detergent or hand soap.

2. Using Heat

You can also use heat to remove all forms of sticky residue from your swimsuit. This will require you to have an electric iron that will produce the heat. Please ensure that the heat from the Iron is not too much to burn the swimsuit.

Step 1: Get the Swimsuit ready for Ironing

Place the swimsuit on the ironing table and ensure that the surface with the sticky residue is facing up. Cover the sticky region with two layers of paper towel.

Ensure that the paper towel is covering the whole sticky region. So, if the residue is covering a large surface on the swimsuit, you need to get more pieces of paper towels to cover the entire space.

Step 2: Press the Iron on the Sticky Region

Plug your electric iron, leave it for a while to heat up but make sure the heat is not too much that will burn the swimsuit. Press the iron on the top of the paper towel covering the sticky region and hold it down for about 10 seconds. The sticky residue will go off, making it easier to take off.

Step 3: Take off the Iron and Start Scraping

After leaving the iron on the paper towel for about 10 seconds, the slue should be heated well enough to begin to scrap the sticky residue away. You can use something that has a flat edge like a plastic ID card or your fingernail to scrape off the glue

Step 4: Continue until the Sticky residue is gone

Sometimes, you may have to repeat placing the iron on the sticky surface for 10 seconds a few more times before the residue finally goes off.

Step 4: Wash the Swimsuit

Finally, go ahead and wash the swimsuit with clean warm water using detergent or hand soap.

3.    Freezing the Swimsuit

This is another method you can use to get rid of sticky residue on your swimsuit. To do this, follow the steps explained below:

Step 1: Place the Swimsuit in a freezer

The essence of this is to make the glue or gum very brittle. Some gum or glue do become brittle when you reduce the temperature to a very low level.

Freezing works well for substances with gum or glue stickers but are not effective for stickers or other substances that have seeped into the swimsuit.

When freezing the swimsuit, you can put the swimsuit into a freezer-safe plastic bag as long as the sticky residue does not touch the bag. Please note that freezing does not damage the swimsuit no matter the fabrics it is made of.

Step 2: Scrape off the Frozen substance

Immediately the sticky residue has been frozen, go ahead and remove the swimsuit from the freezer and immediately begin to scrap the sticky residue off the swimsuit. You can use flat objects like a knife. or a plastic ID card. The Frozen glue should get off the swimsuit and detach from the swimsuit.
